Falling to Earth. Poems and Intaglios.

Northampton, MA: Double Elephant Press, 2002. Kuch, Michael. Quarto. Unpaginated. One of 100 copies. Signed by Kuch at the colophon. Fourteen poems and twenty-one intaglio copperplate etchings by Kuch and Arthur Larson commemorate the anniversary of the terrifying and tragic collapse of the World Trade Towers. The imagery uses mythological and biblical motifs to engage with the metaphor of falling - a notion all the more potent when considered alongside Richard Drew's iconic photograph, "The Falling Man" - to look at the human and spiritual costs of violence. Printed in Emerson type cast and set by David Wolfe, on abaca and cotton-blended paper handmade by Shannon Brock. Bound in handmade Japanese Sunomi Silver paper, with strips of blue and white onlaid paper running vertically down the center; the effect is simply and astonishingly reminiscent of the Towers. Mint. Held in a dropback box with steel walls. Item #31880
