Four Poems Sent to T. W. Higginson, by Emily Dickinson.
Poestenkill, NY: Edition Kaldewey, 2020. Kaldewey, Gunnar. Small quarto. (25)pp. From an edition of forty-five copies, this is one of ten deluxe copies, printed on Grand Chinese paper and bound by Thomas Zwang. Here Kaldewey presents Dickinson's letter to Thomas Wentworth Higginson and her accompanying poems, which she was, at the time and unsuccessfully, attempting to have published. Higginson would go on to co-edit the first published collection of Dickinson's poetry after her death. Kaldewey has decorated the paper with blue speckles, evoking both the scattered and the cosmic elements of Dickinson's verses. Bound in full blue silk over boards, with inlays of silver paper. Inset to the upper cover is an amethyst, which recalls the "learned Gem-tactics" Dickinson mentions in the final poem of the series. Housed in chemise and slipcase. Mint. Item #31766
