Unnamed Lands, by Walt Whitman.
Poestenkill, NY: Kaldewey Press, 2009. Kaldewey, Gunnar. Quarto. (14)ff. One of 35 copies. Illustrated with ten folded watercolor paintings by Gunnar Kaldewey. The text is taken from its first appearance in the 1860 Boston edition of Leaves of Grass, and is printed in silver on gray-blue pastepaper that resembles early denim. Together with Kaldewey's abstract landscapes, the book presents a physical response to Whitman's poem of the overwhelming nature of the past and the many who have occupied it. As new in blue Japanese paper over boards, with the title printed in silver on the cover and a reproduced watercolor set into a small recessed frame. Housed in a chemise and slipcase. Item #31756
