Cedar Trees on a Hill at Dusk.

San Francisco, CA: Thomas Ingmire, 2016. Ingmire, Thomas. Quarto. (24)pp. A unique book, which continues Ingmire's pursuit of the intersection of calligraphy, sound, and poetry. By gesturing toward Geraldine Monk's cedar trees studding the northern coast of England with geometric circles and stark lines, Ingmire invokes the structure of a musical score. This is, of course, intentional; in an exhibit at the San Francisco Public Library, Monk chose Henry Purcell's "Winter Song" as performed by Nanette Scriba to accompany Ingmire's presentation of her poem. All three coalesce in somber harmony to evoke both the landscape itself and the feel of it.

Gouache, Japanese sumi, and golf leaf on paper. Bound in full black wrappers with blind stamping and gilt tooling to upper cover, mirroring the motif that appears throughout the text. Mint. Item #31672
