Illustrated throughout with lithographed imagery from World War II, including bomber planes over Europe, soldiers and workers set against Stars of David, and tanks on a battlefield. Intermixed are depictions of the new state of Israel, with the Israeli flag; a Holocaust prisoner behind razor wire; and buildings on fire. Together, the art embodies the many attitudes of the Psalms, embracing their most passionate calls for grief, anger, and joy on behalf of the Jewish people.
