Middletown, CT: Robin Price, 2007. Small quarto. (32)pp. One of 86 copies of the regular edition. Signed by the artist. Presented as an unusual double-layer accordion, co-designed and -produced with Daniel Kelm, the book provides interactive insight into Price's method, on her persistent fascination on mixing choice with chance. Text excerpts from 86 books significan to Price are gathered using a variety of formulas based on the number forty-three, Price's age at the start of the project. They are then grouped by subjects, such as "Time", "Hands", "Flora", and "Counting", and by their forumulas for retrieval. All are set over gridlines (the first accordion layer) and topographic maps (the second accordion layer) from locations along the forty-third parellels. Running throughout is a river, borrowed from the Ninja Press' The Real World of Manuel Córdova, which invites a sense of forward progression and exploration. Included are a legend card, which deciphers the formula symbols, and a supplemental booklet containing an annotated bibliography. Bound accordion-fold in pale green paper over boards, with pocket for legend card on upper cover. Housed in dropback box with pocket for booklet in lid verso. Fine. Item #30235
